World-renowned Latvian violinist Gidon Kremer founded the KREMERata BALTICA chamber orchestra in 1996 to bring together the most outstanding young musicians from the three Baltic states of Latvia, Lithunia and Estonia. Kremer’s virtuosity as a performer has led to his recognition worldwide as one of the most compelling artisits of our time.

Conductor Justus Frantz has been internationally successful as a pinaist and conductor for more than 20 years. Realizing a dream of Leonard Bernstein’s, Maestro Frantz organized the Philharmonia of the Nations, a youthful orchestra composed of musicians from all over the world. The orchestra demonstrates the ability of different peoples to work together in peace and harmony. Musical excellence unites these gifted artists from over 40 countries and five continents, while creativity and enthusiam infuse their work.

Under the direction of Finnish-born Esa-Pekka Salonen, the orchestra’s Music Director since 1992, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the dynamic Salonen have established themselves as one of the world’s most exciting musical partnerships. Eight decades of collaboration tie the Los Angeles Philharmonic and CAMA. We proudly present the orchestra for its milestone 250th performance in Santa Barbara.

The internationally acclaimed St. Paul Chamber Orchestra is one of America’s premier chamber orchestras. Recognized as one of the music world’s most innovative and talented performing artists, Bobby McFerrin has led the orchestra in concerts as both conductor and soloist since 1994. McFerrin will display his remarkable range of talents as he leads the orchestra in melodic works by Bizet, joins them as a voice in Vivaldi’s concerto and offers one of his riveting solo improvisations.

Founded in 1776 as the orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre, the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra is one of the oldest in Russia. Music Director and Artistic Director since 1998, conductor Mark Ermler has toured this great orchestra throughout Europe, North America and Japan. Pianist Denis Matsuyev, Gold Medalist, 1998 International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition, joins the orchestra to perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2.

Rafael Frübeck de Burgos leads the renowned National Orchestra of Spain in its first US tour. Maestro Frübeck has conducted virtually all the major orchestras in the US and Canada, and many of the orchestras of Europe, including the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in a concert for CAMA in 1994. For this concert, Frübeck will offer familiar orchestral works by Albéniz and de Falla.
Celebrated world-wide for his thrilling interpretations and flawless technique, guitarist Pepe Romero will perform two pieces, including Joachim Rodrigo’s modern classic, Concierto de Aranjuez.
